Marks and Spencer
IN STORE STYLE GUIDES
Launch of 'Style' magazine, by Marks and Spencer.
Q: How did this project come about?
A: Marks and Spencer approached me directly, as they were unhappy with their current agency and needed an experienced art director to take over the design of the current set of Style Guides.
Q: What was the brief?
A: To create a stylish, modern and exciting guide, including the main campaign imagery alongside several key products linked to each theme. This guide was to be aimed at both womenswear and menswear. As long as we stayed within the guidleines and used Marks and Spencer's house fonts, we had full creative freedom.
Q: Did you take inspiration from any other sources?
A: As this guide highlights M+S most desirable pieces, we looked to the super-glossy, high end fashion magazines such as L'Officiel, Numéro and Jalouse for inspiration - thin and bold keylines alongside a mix of large and small headings to highlight modern style.
